INTERNATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS UNION , YOUTH FORUM EXPERINECE

The youth forum held between May 12th to 16th 2008 was a great mark of a bout turn iin my life.I believe the ITU event positively changed my life.
I now feel like a leader who can change the society, I viewthings globally. I believe that ITU heavy investments in me as youthis not easily quantifiable. The challenge to us to be good ITU ambassadors in ourcountries, communities and universities indeed was anoble statement by most speakers.

Though I studyCommerce where we mainly dwell on economic side ofICT, I managed to expand y view on the immense roleICT can play in development and positive changes inthe society. I therefore see the need to acquire moreknowledge in the mainstream ICT field. I also learnt a lot from the forum especially the roleof ICT in socio-economic development, peace buildingand empowerment of the marginalized.

The cyber peaceinitiative from Egypt made a very wonderfulpresentation at the TELECOM EGYPT’S youth lunch.

This was appoint of interest to me as a youth peaceactivist given that Kenya is just coming out of postelection violence that proper flow of informationcould have averted.

We also drafetd the 2008 ITU YOUTH DECRALATION.I also made many friends from the forum and got abroader picture of different countries. I think thatsuch forums should be organized not only in ICT fieldbut other to address other pertinent world issues.Itwas a great opportunity an, informative one, to be part of.
